What is SundaMind?

SundaMind is an app for self-reflection and well-being, built by the psychologist and licensed psychotherapist Dirk Werner. SundaMind is not a health application and is no substitute for psychotherapy.

What it is for

SundaMind accompanies day-to-day self-reflection: you note how you are doing, write freely or along a question, and over time you see which patterns emerge. The idea behind it is simple — much of what shapes everyday life only becomes visible once you place several weeks side by side.

The app passes no judgement. It asks questions, reflects back what you wrote, and shows how things developed. What follows from that is for the person writing to decide.

The five areas

What SundaMind explicitly is not

SundaMind is not a medical device, not a health application, and no substitute for psychotherapy or medical care. It makes no diagnoses and gives no treatment recommendations.

In an acute crisis, use the direct route: emergency number 112 (across the EU). In Germany, Telefonseelsorge offers free, round-the-clock support in German on 0800 111 0 111. Elsewhere, please use your local emergency number.

What the pattern review works with

The review compares the current period against your own earlier history — not against an average of other people. If there are too few entries, the app shows no comparison at all rather than inventing one.

For journaling prompts, the pattern review and experiment suggestions, your input is sent to an AI interface. Which data, and under what conditions, is set out in the privacy policy.

What the name means

SundaMind combines the Sanskrit word 'sundara' (beautiful, harmonious, well-composed) with the Japanese 'sunda' (become clear, brightened).

The name stands for a mind that doesn't need to be perfect to become clear.

Sunda puts it this way: “I'm here for you to help you get to know yourself better, one small step at a time, and feel better at your own pace.”
